Essay Writing Strategies for Dorothea Owen

Essay Writing Strategies for Dorothea OwenOne of the most famous and influential women in the world, Dorothea Owen wrote over one hundred books, hundreds of plays, poems, essays, biographies, memoirs, travelogues, manifestos, speeches, and historical novels. She was a renowned Victorian ladies' writer, who was often commissioned to write about certain notable women in history. She lived most of her life in England, from the age of nineteen until her death at the age of ninety-three. I will discuss a few essay writing strategies that are critical to successful essay writing on Dorothea Owen. This is not an Humble Opinion. Dorothea Owen has a very strong writing voice and her style was quite different from other Victorian women writers, such as Lady Gregory. I think that her style may have been more literary, and I prefer my essay to be literary, not historical. Instead of reading lengthy descriptions of personality traits, or personality problems, I prefer to read essays that are descr iptive of one particular topic or ideas. The form of Dorothea Owen's essays lends itself to this kind of essay writing.Personal Insight. Dorothea Owen's essays frequently include some personal insight about topics that are of interest to readers. Instead of reading long, linear thoughts, I find it easier to think about and analyze in Dorothea Owen's style, by paraphrasing the essays for myself. The first draft should be a recap of the essay, or at least a fair description of what I have read.Honesty and Repetition. In my own opinion, Dorothea Owen's essays are much stronger than Lady Gregory's because she makes more direct comments about the topic. I always begin each essay by describing a theme and then use a direct essay writing technique, to elaborate on what I have said.Re-Defining the Comfort Zone. Dorothea Owen is an author of fiction, so in the sense that she wrote fiction, not history or biography, then she does not live in a time period. Therefore, it is easy to re-define a theme, to find similarities and differences between many subjects.Assess the Tone of the Essay. I often set the tone of an essay by adding my own voice, by adding a personal insight, or by providing a specific tone and rhythm. Many essay writing experts have suggested this method for making an essay more effective, but I prefer to add my own voice to the essay to show the techniques for creating a greater impact with less effort.Unexpected Coherence. Since the essays are generally short, I often encourage my students to re-write the essay in a way that is unexpected, so that they can create a fresh, new approach.I hope that this essay writing strategies will help you make a more effective essay on Dorothea Owen. Dorothea Owen would be quite pleased!
